ACL - Person Access

Can multiple (virtually all mail files on the server) be selected and all the Person entries in the ACLs be modified (currently set too high) lowered to Editor or Author with other Attributes ticked/selected as well, in one fell swoop?

Thanks for any help on this

Yes, sorta. You could do it with LotusScript. What you want to change is each individual mail file owner’s access. When you select multiple databases in Domino Administrator and go to Manage ACL, you’re modifying actual ACL entries. It doesn’t have any notion of “mail file owner”, it just knows that Eamonn Wilson is set to Manager and Default has No Access.

What you can do instead is write an agent that loops through the Domino Directory, gets each user’s mail file, looks up the mail file owner, then modifies the ACL. It’s a lot of steps, but it’s not particularly difficult if you’re comfortable with LotusScript.

Yes this can be done with a LotusScript agent, or … you could get a copy of our Workflo!ACL Manager that is already written and does what you want plus several additional functions. With the ACL Manager you can add (remove) Individuals/Groups/Roles to any selected database/s and set their access level to any level you require. In addition you can create a query and find out what databases does “Charlie Brown” have access to and what is his access level. Pus a bunch more, but now it’s starting (Already started) to sound like a sales pitch.Tahe a look at the demo at http://www.wfs.com this demo will work on the first 30 databases it processes.

Or you could just as easily do so with a product that you already own - I think you know what I am referring to  You can email me for more details. We were in contact about another (unrelated) issue last week.
