Accidentally replaced design of domino directory where person documents reside

I replaced the design of the domino directory with domino web access, thinking i was in the mail file directory instead.

Is there any way i can revert my changes?

Replace the design with the pubnames.ntf template which should be on your server (Domino Directory template - StdR4PublicAddressBook)

Edit: Make sure you select the “Show advanced templates option” for this template to appear

You may need to close out of it in designer (or Admin, or Client), then re-open and replace design.

Any chance this is on an Intel platform? Can you get to the OS of the Server, run NLNotes, Open the Domino Directory, and replace the design from there?

Will try but just tried doing updall on names.nsf and error messages coming back to say the views are gone.

Subject: Do you have a backup??

If you do have a backup, then you could (a) make a local replica of the borked names.nsf (b) shut down your server (it’s probably in trouble already, if not down) and copy the backup over the bad names.nsf on the server, (c) start the server, and (d) using an ID that has Editor rights, not Designer rights (confirm this first!) replicate from your local replica to the server. Use “replicate with options” and be sure to de-select “Receive documents from server”. And depending on how old and out-of-date the replica is, I’d also shut down the server and re-start it again to make sure everything is really clean.

I’m digging now…

Surely you can get to the database through the FILES in your Admin client? Can you right-click it, select database properties, and change the database design to inherit from the pubnames template? Then, at the console, do a “l design -f names.nsf” to refresh the design on the Domino Directory.

Of course they’re gone – the existing indexes are for views in the public address book, and the design notes the indexer would use to update the indexes are from the web mail template (the design notes for the address book views were nuked when you applied the webmail template). You need to replace the design before updall can do you any good.
