Accessing Lotus Notes

Here is the question:

“Do you have any software that let’s you search and read Lotus Notes email (without having to have Lotus Notes set up on the computer)?

We have some eDiscovery problems down in California and we get some weird security issues if we try to read someone’s email while connected to our Lotus Notes servers.

Our IT staff is exploring options but just wondered if you had anything that I might look at.”

Hi Kevin,

I think the best option for you may be to use iNotes (also known as Domino Web Access) where you can view Mail quickly and easily over the Web. Depending on the Release of Notes/Domino, there are various options available when using iNotes and in the latest Releases, you have a wide-range of available Functionality using iNotes.

I have included a link below to IBM’s Website that offers a great deal of additional information about it:

If you have any further questions regarding iNotes, please feel free to Reply to this Post or, if you would like to speak with IBM Technical Support, I recommend you Open a PMR and specifically request to speak with the Web Server Team; as they handle iNotes issues and questions.

I hope this information helps Kevin!

Regards,

-Bob

Subject: Our solution

The old way:1. Conduct the search ourselves one database at a time…

  1. Copy the hits into another NSF.

  2. Make a copy of the NSF for burn to DVD. REMOVE LOCAL ENCRYPTION.

  3. Send DVD to third party. They can use a trial version of Notes to view it.

The new way:

  1. One query using EDM.

  2. Export the results to NSF.

  3. Make a copy of the NSF for burn to DVD. REMOVE LOCAL ENCRYPTION.

  4. Send DVD to third party. They can use a trial version of Notes to view it.

I suppose there’s also some code out there that can be used to transfer the contents to .eml files like that seen in the drag/drop capability of the openntf file navigator app. Been meaning to see if that can become invoked from an agent.
