[The story]I had an incident short time ago where a person deleted its mail database so I downgraded all the users access from Manager to Designer on their mail database. I soon found out that you needed Manager access to compact the mail database.

Is it possible to grant the users compact access without upgrating their access to Manager ?

[The answer – or more of an explaination]Yes, you can create an agent which would send a request to compact the database. Then this “server function” could be carried out via the server.
[New idea]
Is there a need to have an user invoke compact? You can schedule compact to happen via the notes.ini [ServerTaskAT parameter] or the program document in the Domino Directory.
