Access denied to doladmin.nsf

I am testing an upgrade from 4.6.7a to 6.5.1 and have run into a problem. I cannot access doladmin.nsf or certsrv.nsf from the Notes Admin client. Says I am not authorized to access the database. I think I can get around the issue with the certsrv.nsf as it exists on my 4.6.7 server and I can give myself access on the 4.6.7 server before upgrading, however the doladmin.nsf does not exist on my 4.6.7 server. I don’t know how to access the ACL to add myself.

Something I noticed: there is no LocalDomainAdmin group on my 4.6.7 server or the upgraded 6.5.1 server, which I find is created on a fresh install. That group, which includes the admin user I created, can access these databases.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The “LocalDomainAdmins” group is only created on NEW server installs, not on server upgrades.For upgrades, simply create that group in your Domino Directory and add your existing administrator names into it and you’re all set.

Keep in mind that you can also use the new “Full Admin Access” feature in the R6 Admin Client to temporarily overrule ACL access to correct/change them, if needed.

Thanks for the quick reply Thomas. I am assuming this has to be done before I upgrade the server, as I tryed to do it after and still could not access these databases.

You can create those groups at any time. Maybe the group cache wasn’t uptodate in the server, it will work a few minutes after the group has been added.

Didn’t work because that group was not part of ACL. I had to use the Full Access Administration to update the ACL to include the group.

As long as you have edit access to the server document, you can give yourself “Full Access Administrator” priveleges (new with ND6, and one of the greatest things since sliced bread). Once you do that, you can turn on full access administration when using the Administrator 6.5 client:

With that option turned on, you can modify ACLs regardless of whether or not you are a Manager of the databases you are looking at.

Thanks Stan, that was the answer. That is a great/dangerous feature I am very willing to live with!
