Using a 8.5.1 mail template, users are trying to delegate access via the Preferences (Access & Delegation tab). Users receive the following error: “The directory server is down or the user (or group) you want to grant access to your mailfile could not be found in the server directory. The user or group will not be granted access”. Pretty self-explanatory error BUT:
1)there is no directory server listed in the users’ location document
2)the user is in the directory as the name was selected using the name picker
3)it works fine using a Notes 7 Client with the same 8.5.1 mail template
4)the access is granted anyway despite the error saying it won’t work
Can anyone shed light on what’s new with the 8.5.1 client that could cause this issue? Thanks so much!
re : “The directory server is down or the user (or group) you want to grant access to your mailfile could not be found in the server directory. The user or group will not be granted access”.
Is it always reproducible for you? If you switch location, not switch id, to other person. Do you still has the same problem?
1)there is no directory server listed in the users’ location document
--> The server info is listed under Location/ Server tab
2)the user is in the directory as the name was selected using the name picker
3)it works fine using a Notes 7 Client with the same 8.5.1 mail template → I could not reproduce your problem on R851 client/ mail template
4)the access is granted anyway despite the error saying it won’t work
If it’s reproducible, could you please reinstall the client again?
I opened a PMR and was told this was being tracked on SPR RREN843DXM. APAR is Lo50358.
Check the groups in the ACL and make certain that an ACL only access list has not been delegated. Remove or change to multi purpose and this should resolve your issue. This won’t take effect until the $Groups view has been rebuilt.
We have had the same issue when a client tries to Add/Remove from the Access Delegation from the Calendar pereferences, client was getting "The directory server is down or the user (group) you want to grant access to your mail file could not be found in the server directory. So, after spending some good amount of time figured it out what was the root cause in our environment. Here what happened1) Please check the Access Delegation field to ensure that those people are already exist there must have the proper naming convention with the proper OUs. We found out that there was someone name in that field with incorrect OU.Removed it from the ACL because you can’t do it from the Access Delegation field and then readded that person back. Then user was able to add/remove people from her Access Delegation field. Good Luck
