I was wondering what the acceptable latency would be for a Notes client to access a Domino server and provide reasonable response times?
I understand the the word “reasonable” is very open to interpretation. We are looking at hosting Domino servers in a few data centres around the globe. From our source point the ping times vary between 29ms (closest data centre) to 200ms (half way around the world).
Is 200ms acceptable, with ND6 compression turned on?

Did you find out the answer for this?
Also does anyone know if the Network Compression helps with the latency problem?
It seems Notes client is a chatty. It seems many requests back and forth for a single user operation. Network latency seems to be a very big issue for remote users. We get a lot of complaints from remote users who have dedicated T1, but the performance is still lousy.
I suspect that is due to Network Latency and chattyness of NRPC. Anyone has any experience in that? Thanks.

It’s possible that NRPC isn’t chatty, but your application design is. Large numbers of shared elements, or lots of signed fields, or lots of automatic mail operations, or lots of @DbLookups – these can all lead to heavy-traffic applications.
