“Submit for Approval” is the hotspot button which the user clicks to submit the Change Request for approval. This hotspot has some javascript validations that include the Summary field validation for null check. The field used for Javascript validation is “SummarText” (hidden field).
This error occurs only on this JS validation. This error does not occur if we give the ‘SummaryText’ field value as “changeRequestSummary” instead of the @Abstract formula.
Have any of you come across such issue earlier. Or is any one aware of how this can be handled in JS validation.
Mostly what I think is that “SummayText” is ‘undefined’ for Java Script. This happens because it is a hidden field. Open the form properties and go to second tab and enable “Generate HTML for all fields”. Save the form and test it again.
The form porpoerty “Generate HTML for All Fields” is already enabled in the form. Actually the error occurs when user uses “ENTER” key while typing free text in the richtext box (“changeRequestSummary”)
As the hidden field “SummaryText” have the computed formula as @Abstract ([TextOnly]; 256; “”;“changeRequestSummary”), and this fails when the rich text field have "Enter"s in its text.
The error thrown during JS validation is - “SummaryText is null or not an object”.
