The 851 admin client has a serious bug, there is no way to view space used when viewing the files and directories on an 8.X server. Does anyone know when this will be fixed? We’ll roll back to 8.5 until a fix is posted.
Subject: Works fine for me
Domino 8.5fp1 SERVER
Subject: Agreed, 8.51 is the problem, not 8.5 FP1
Again, it’s 8.51 I’m reporting the bug for.
Subject: I’m using 8.5.1
I’m using 8.5.1, not seeing your issue.
Can you give exact steps to reproduce the problem?
Subject: Problem has been confirmed at another company, here are the exact steps
The exact steps are simply to upgrade to 8.51 on any computer, and then run the administrator client (tested on XP Pro, Vista Ultimate, W7 Enterprise). The Space Used column in the files view is NOT there, confirmed on every machine we upgraded. I just got off the phone with Empowering Systems (our IBM business partner in Boston who supples our CRM software) and they have the same issue. Our older clients do have that column, and downgrading restores the column. This is against 8.0, 8.02, 8.5, and 8.5FP1 servers (so far).
Subject: “Space User” deliberately removed from the Admin client Files panel
DAOS and compression features resulted in the Space User value being incorrect. It seems that removing the column is not what you wanted.
Subject: We can’t use DAOS, how do we get the view back?
We have a contract with our largest business partner that states we can’t do business with them if we store certain files anywhere except within individual mail files as attachments, so we’ll never turn DAOS on. Why would the view be turned off when DAOS is not used? This will take us another step towards being as difficult to manage as exchange, why go backwards?
Subject: use an admin client 8.5.0 or earlier

Admin/pm
Subject: Thanks very much, DAOS is useless to us
And manually looking at each file for space used seems so very Microsoft.
Subject: Use Webadmin
Webadmin is still version 8.5 and still shows Space Used. It’s a hack but at least you can use the proper admin Notes client version with Domino 8.5.1.
The space used percentage figure is probably not what you expect to see if you are using DAOS. The precentage figure shows the physical size relative to the logical size rather than showing any free white space.

Subject: From Lotus Support… “deemed no longer necessary”
I opened a PMR with Lotus Suport concering this issue & was told “it was decided that “Space Used” will be completely removed from the admin client as it was deemed no longer necessary.” I suspect that it will be removed from the web client as well some time in the future if everyone keeps quiet about this.
I find the removal of this column unacceptable & have asked for an enhancement request to be opened.
I suggest that if you want to see this column in future versions of the admin client you do the same.
Subject: is there a reason why compact -S can not be used?
What are the reasons that compact -S can not be used to compact the databases?

Subject: works with 8.5/8.5FP1
I tried it with some of my servers (8.5FP1/Win32 and 8.5HF224/Linux) and I see logical and physical db sizes at the files tab.
Subject: Me too, but it’s 8.51 I’m reporting, not 8.5
8.51 has been released, and that’s where the bug is.
Subject: using Admin 8.5.1 of course ![]()
Sorry, that I did not clarify my test environment: I was using Administrator 8.5.1 against 8.5 servers…
Subject: Same here, but no space used column, confirmed by others as well
It’s a puzzle. I know have confirmed it on 8 machines using 3 different OS’s, and I’ve called three other companies I know are testing, they all confirm the same problem. I’d love to know how to get that column back in teh files view.
Subject: Seeing the same thing here
In the Admin client, the column for space used which used to show a percent used is no longer there and if you check the Admin Preferences, it’s not there to add either.
Subject: Thank you, that’s EXACTLY the problem
On every machine we’ve tested.
