8.5 Basic Client

Our firm wants to deploy 8.5 basic client as our hardware cannot handle Standard and our application development team is not ready for standard yet.Dev team has to have standard in order to keep working in designer, so in order to test we need to make a change close Notes and launch Basic via nlnotes.exe and test it. Which seams like a extra step which is a pain.

Also, if you test in standard client will it guarantee 100% that it will work in basic client for our users? or do we need to test in Basic all the time.

I hope my post makes sense…

Subject: Basic Notes

If I understand correctly, you have to develop in the Standard version, but you’ll be deploying the Basic version to your customers. Why not have a couple of computers with Basic installed so the developers can merely sign in and see the changes without all the re-starting?

Subject: 8.5 Basic Client

Yes, that is what we need to do, but its a pain as for last 10 years we are use to make change and test on same client. But now its a extra step.

Are you aware of any functionally which is incompatible with developing in standard and not working in basic?

Subject: as i know

aslong u dont change eclipse based things, the basic client can handle everything, thats done in formula, Notes script/JS

Subject: Admin Client

I find opening an app in the Admin client is still basic - is this sufficient for testing?
