8.5.3 Modem Port

Actually running win7 but that was not an option in the Platform drop down.

Trying to configure an 8.5.3 client to dial directly into a server.

When I get to the page to select the Modem Port. No ports are listed.

I have verified that the modem exists and has been assigned COM3 by Windows.

Subject: No longer supported…

From this document:http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/domhelp/v8r0/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.ibm.notes85.help.doc%2Fpref_notes_ports_pref_r.html

“Note: Notes® no longer supports ports for dialup modem communication (COM ports distinguished by numbers COM1, COM2, and so on) or the X.PC protocol used by them. To use a dialup modem connected to your computer, you must have remote access software (RAS) in your operating system and manage the port and communication from that software.”

Subject: I saw that

I found that but can’t for the life of me figure out why the software would be released and at least 3 fix packs released and that interface to select that option is still in the software.

Subject: Because IBM Doesn’t have a good eye for detail.
