Setting up some new Windows 7 64-bit clients which have the R8.5.1 Basic client installed as multi-user. I wanted to try the R8.5.2 client upgrade to see if it would resolve some strange toolbar behaviors.
No basic Notes client install file available, so I’m trying the full Notes-Admin-Designer client, figuring I’d just make sure that the Admin and Designer clients were not selected for installation. After a something like 10-minute wait after the file extraction, this message comes up: "Lotus Notes 8.5.2 - You are attempting to upgrade a multi-user installation. Please obtain the correct installation package to complete the upgrade.’
The full client (Admin,Notes,Designer) doesn’t support installing in multiuser mode because Notes is a non destructive install (we try to maintain the user’s data). You need to download the 8.5.2 Notes only install kit which will allow you to upgrade Notes correctly.
(By the way, editing the registry as suggested is not supported and will cause Notes to lose access to the existing data directories)
