On the evening after upgrading our first server to 8.5.2, all mail files were replaced with the latest mail template (as expected). In that process it appears that all user preferences for mail signature have changed the type of signature choice from “Rich text” to “HTML or Image file”.
We had at one time used HTML or Image file for our signatures and the HTML files were still available, resulting in old mail signatures being appended. Changing the preference back to “Rich text” on all mail files fixed the issue - but glad we’re not a big organisation!
When we were on version 7 were were pointing to an html file. When we upgraded to 8, the signature was automatically imported from the file and stored as rich text. After upgrading a couple of machines, the signature broke because it got switched back to pointing to an html file that for most of us no longer exists as we’ve upgraded PCs and such since then. Have not figured out how we’re going to handle rolling it out to everyone else yet. May have to send an email communication letting them know they will have to change it back but not happy about that option.
the html version didn’t work across replicas and the rich text version does. it would have been nice to know, but I greatly appreciate the desire to move people to the rich text version
Subject: Doesn’t seem to be just connected with the mail template
After changing the setting in the mail preferences on the upgraded client everything seemed OK there. However, I then accessed my mail from a different client - one which had not been involved in any upgrade and was running an earlier version of 8.5. The same problem occurred there and I had to reset the setting back to Rich Text on that client too. I can’t make sense of that!
Is there any update from the development team?I receive a complaint from my customer where their users not able to see the signature (in Rich Text format) after the server upgraded to R8.5.2. Need to go into the Preferences and re-select the Rich Text option in order to get back the signature.
