Despite the spell check option NOT being selected, the new 8.5.1 spell checker is ignoring incorrect spellings that are in UPPERCASE.
Any known resolution to this?

I presume you mean that the “Ignore words in UPPERCASE” option is not checked and yet it is not flagging misspellings. I just tried it in my environment (Notes 8.5.1, no fixpacks, English UK as dictionary) and its working as intended.

Apparently reproducible in 8.5.1FP1 while logged into the embedded Sametime. No issue in FP2 or 8.5.2.
