Just wondering, anybody upgrade from Notes/Designer/Admin 8.5 to 8.5.1? I am seeing an hour install at the moment, still hasn’t completed. The hard drive is just chugging away so I’m sure it is doing something. No errors, install is telling me it is finishing. Thanks!

it took about 30 minutes when upgrading from 8.5 SP1 to 8.5.1 (Win XP Pro). The biggest part was on Eclipse framework.

Is it a bad idea to run that version for the users? That’s how we do it.

prior to upgrading a user from a previous AllClients install to a ClientOnly install, you need to change their notes.ini setting of InstallType=2 to 1 or 6 (not 2…), or the install will fail as soon as it has unpacked all the files.
I’d like to figure out how to alter the MSI package to not check for this setting, so I don’t have to traipse over 1200 users notes.ini before upgrading.

Is there any benefits of running client only?
Seems that all client version is more for administrators but that’s the version we allways have installed for all users.

- I also did it in a VM, which should slow it up some. Then again, I likely went off and did stuff on the “real” machine while the VM was churning away, so I didn’t really notice the time.
