8.0.2 Server Will not start

I am trying to upgrade to 8.0.2-64bit from 6.5.4FP2 in Windows 2008 Server (yes, I know it’s not supported). Same as the post from yesterday, the service hangs at startup.

What is the best method to roll back to 6.5.4FP2, or should I try to install 8.5? If 8.5 is recommended, should I first roll back or try to install over the top of the 8.0.2 install?

This is odd because I tested this upgrade sequence in a test environment and everything was fine.

Subject: Resolution… sorta

I was able to install 8.0.2 I needed to install the 32-bit version of 8.0.2. Then, I needed to attempt to start it up. It will not start and will give some errors. From there, you install the 64-bit version. Everything worked fine then.

It’s important that you attempt to start up the 32-bit version. In my test environment, I was successful in installing the 64-bit version as mentioned above. In the real install that failed. I skipped over starting up the 32-bit start up, assuming it was an unnecessary step… that was my mistake it seems.

I still have issues with 8.0.2 not receiving email from postini, which I’ll post in another thread.
