I had Notes 8.0 running on Ubuntu 7.04. To install 8.0.2 I removed the ~/lotus folder and then installed using
sudo ./setup.sh
The install runs just fine, telling me it will replace the existing installation.
When I start the client, I get past the point where I get to fill in the servername and end up typing the password for the user.id.
I also see the setup complete message.
Then I get an error message saying
Generic LSE Failure (no more info)
Any suggestions
Subject: Update - got it working using ugly hack
I changed ownership to the executables like thissudo chown -R root:myuser /opt/ibm/lotus/notes
Now the Notes client launches just fine.
Don’t do this at home. I am sure someone here will be able to suggest a fix that is better than this one.
Subject: Speed has improved considerably on Linux btw
I forgot to mention that the 8.0.2 client on my Ubuntu is a lot faster than my old 8.0 was.GREAT!
Subject: the ugly hack worked
Thank you very much the ugly hack worked perfectly for me. I was getting the same error right after I entered my signon password.
