8.0.2 not receiving email stream

I recently upgraded to Domino 8.0.2 on Win 2k8 server (unsupported platform, I know…). We use postini as an external spam filter. Basically, our MX records point to Postini’s servers and then Postini routes mails to our server.

Upon starting up the server, no mail was being received from the outside. Every other function of the server works. We are able to send/receive mail within the domino domain. We are able to send mail to the outside world. Within the Postini web interface, we are able to push e-mails caught up in the SPAM filter through and deliver to the user’s inbox on the server. So this tells me that SMTP is listening and able to communicate. We just were unable to receive an e-mail stream.

All logic from that points to Postini being the problem. However, after some time of trying different settings within Postini and ensuring the spool was on within Postini, we decided to roll back to Domino 6.5.4FP2. Once we did that, everything was working fine again. So I’m still unsure of what’s going on. Is there simply a setting I missed in the new Domino perhaps?

Any help or ideas would be appreciated… thanks!

Subject: 8.0.2 not receiving email stream

Would an email from an external source using an equivalent of “Delivery Options> Delivery Report>Trace Entire Path” do you any good? that might tell you far along the path the email was getting.

Can Postini verify that they are actually forwarding the email through some kind of log and can they put some kind of error reporting on it?

The problem ended up being on Postini’s end. Thanks to all who replie

Subject: Whitelist Issue?

Turn up logging on the server and see if you are having an issue with the incoming Postini server making a connection. I am thinking that you may want to whitelist the Postini server IPs/DNS names.

Restart the Router after making the change(s).

HTH.
