8.0.2 clients in an 8.5.1 world - workable?

Customer asking … curious what experiences you’ve had.

They’re at 8.5.1 on servers, and want to bump up the mailfiles to the 8.5.1 template.

Many of their clients are still at 8.0.2, however.

Will that work? Is it supported? Are there any switches to flip? What happens in admin/manager delegation situations if there’s a mis-match? (Manager has 8.5.1 client and 8.5.1 template, admin has 8.0.2 client and 8.5.1 template.) Does THAT work? Does delegation work correctly? Error messages?

Any input welcome!

This is NOT supported! The mail template should not be at a higher version than the Notes client

Will that work?

Most things will work, but there’s some known issues with it, look here

Is it supported?

During upgrade only - meaning you may be in this configuration for a short period of time while you are in the process of upgrading your clients

Subject: Never mind…

Subject: only issue i’ve seen

is that u can’t change your sig anymore with 8.0.2 client when using a 8.5.x tempalte.

since u can change templates instantly via

“load convert mail* * Mail85.ntf”, for example, its easy to find out

Subject: 8.5.1 FP1 environment is even better

From our experience, it’s a lot better to maintain uniform environment. With known issues in LN8.5 (clients and server sides), I would suggest you move up everything (clients and servers)to 8.5.1FP1. This will save you lots of headaches in terms of management as well.
