I have to tell you I’m less than impressed with this client version…I have it installed on my workstation at work, my travel laptop and my laptop at home…I’ve copied my bookmark.nsf, desktop6.ndk, names.nsf and id file to each machine and it just continues to hang on each one. I’ll rename the bookmark file or the names file or the desktop file and get it to work, then go to another machine and have to do the same thing to get that one to work only to come back to the first machine I fixed and get the same problems. FRUSTRATING!!!
Subject: Workaround: used \lotus\notes\nsd -kill (and it seems to clean up the data/workspace/??? files required where other methods don’t)
Subject: possible hack
I suggest you dump your old bookmark file and let Notes create a new one, and see if things run smoothly.
THEN, copy your bookmarks (they’re actually documents) from your old bookmark.nsf.
To do this:
-
add the tile of your old bookmark.nsf to your workspace
-
click it to highlight it and hold CTRL-SHIFT while selecting View\Goto with your mouse.
-
from the dialog, select (All Bookmarks)
-
select all docs and copy
-
go into your current bookmark.nsf using the same technique above and paste them in.

Subject: HotFix coming up
I’ve started a PMR for this issue. IBM will release a hotfix soon for Notes 8.0.1.
In the mean time we use the Basic client of Notes 8.0.2. Better then hacking and removing I think.

Thanks, Mark…that did seem to help. Another thing that seems to work is if you set the workspace icon to be the default home page.
Subject: 8.0.2 freezes at startup
I have created so many PMRs on this subject, it happens all the time. Usually IBM answer is to delete the workspace folder in the data folder. It recreates it and you loose most of your settings. If you are patient, you can narrow down on the actual problem by remmming out one sub-folder at a time. I got tired since the .metadata seems to contains most of my problems and it conatins 28 sub-folders.
Subject: RE: HotFix coming up
But I am using the 8.0.2 client…this is where all the problems are occurring.
I’ll try Mark’s suggestion in the earlier response and see if that works.
