First Notes launch takes 65 seconds to get to the log in dialogue. Then when in fonts are tiny.
Exit Notes, and there are no process running (ps -ef | grep notes).
Start Notes… 5 seconds and fonts are fine.
Tried using the default Luxi fonts, same thing.
Ubuntu 8.04 64-bit.
Subject: Hardware Specs
Just to point out that the specs of my laptop are pretty good, so there should not be such a performance issue :
Ubuntu 8.0.4.1 64-bit
HP Compaq 8510w
Core2Duo T7700 (2x 2.4 GHz)
4GB RAM
nVidia Quadro 570M (v173.14.09)
HTS72201 7200 RPM SATA2
I have to use 64-bit because of nice but chunky IBM software in VMs for work and study.
Subject: Just tried 32-bit VM
Just tried it in a 32-bit 8.0.4.1 VM on the same hardware and is really fast.
I am using Ubuntu 8.0.4.1 Desktop 64-bit because of the IBM software that I have running in VMs, and there is no way that I can drop down to 32-bit, due to memory limitations.
