We did not follow that path. We did an upgrade from 6.5 to 7.02. (The beta had a very specific 7.x upgrade point.) Then we upgraded to the Notes 8.5 Mac beta. When Notes 8.5 came out, we de-installed Notes, deleted the templates NTFs(leaving the personal dbs) and installed Notes 8.5. After the upgrade, we went to update the design, but it appears the install did that already. We’ve had no problems. The 8.5 install did reuse the previously installed folders.
Technically, with beta software, you should wipe, but we tried it and it worked w/o doing that. Hope this helps.
Hi Tripp, nice to see the migration from 7.0 to 8.5 works well, but I/we use 6.5. Hopefully I find a migration pass, because I’m not interesting in migrating in two steps, 6.5 to 7.0 to 8.5.
Are you using a shared environment, with ~/Documents/Data or an single User environment with the Data directory inside the Notes Application directory?
I copy all files from “~/Documents/Data” to “~/Library/Application Support/Lotus Notes Data” and start the Notes 8.5 Client the first time (with this user).
I got the “Choose Location” message box, select a location and press “OK”.
Now I got the a message box with " Unablae to load Workplace file /lutz/Library Application Support/Lotus Notes Data/desktop8.ndk. No error. Delete the file and create a new workplace", I select “Yes” (this is the message you talk about).
Now I got the “Client Configuration Dialog”.
The “Notes Preferences” file is not migrated, it’s a new one.
The Mail Database contain some Data but I can’t read any Mail.
