6.5 Instant Messaging login failures

I have been using the 6.03 client and my SameTime 3.1 client on my SameTime 3.1 server without any problems.

I installed 6.5 client on Monday and all seems fine apart from the IM client log on. I can log on to the SameTime server using the SameTime client and I can log on to the SameTime server (stcenter.nsf) without a problem. If I try and connect using the IM feature of 6.5 it tells me my password is incorrect. Which it obviously isn’t.

What am I missing? According to the documents about Lotus Messaging, my 6.5 client on a 6.0.3 server with another 6.0.3 server running SameTime 3.1 is a combination that should work. I can’t find anything that says that the IM part of 6.5 uses a different password to the Inetrnet Password stored in the NAB.

Thanks for any pointers

Steve

Check your location document, check the proxy information is correct, check the server is correct etc. etc.

Hi,

I have 6.5 client and i Log on to the IBM Sametime Demo server…Sometimes i get the same error…it seems that sometimes when the client cannot connect it generates the message the password is invalid…

Arjan

I can confirm that all my settings are correct. Server name, IP address, Proxy is correct although not relevant because the ST Server is on the local network.

I can connect without problems to the ST Server using the SameTime client or a web browser.

What I’ve also noticed that may or may not eb relevant is that when I click on “Connect” the error message appears immediately. It’s as thought 6.5 IM doesn’t even try to connect.

Were you able to find a resolution to this problem? We are experiencing the same thing.

I was able to correct a similar problem by making a change to my notes.ini. I am running Notes 6.5 connected to a Domino 5.0.12 server. In your local notes.ini file look for “IMUserName=xxxxxxx”, if it’s not there you need to add it where ‘xxxxxxx’ is your Sametime username. When you log on to Notes, you should be prompted for your Sametime password after you enter your Notes password.

HiThis used to work in Notes 6.5.1 but does not appear to work in Notes 6.5.2.
