What is the bug? We are running 6.5.4 FP2 w/o issues but might not be configured the same way. Just curious… we are also waiting on the latest Domino for i5 release. I am concerned about the December date at this stage. There has been some serious activity re: SPRs (many added in last few days).

Problem fixed(solved) with 6.5.5
SPR# GRIE6DBB9G - Server crashed with a shared handle table full message. With this fix, statements were added to free the memory resources.
Subject: RE: 6.5.5
Are you sure this problem is fixed in 6.5.5? That would be great, but the SPR lists a fix for “shared”, not “private”, handles:

6.5.5 now available from passport for all platforms
Subject: RE: 6.5.5
Really! Posted on web, yet? We just migrated from Windows to the i5/OS a few months ago. I did the PTFs (FP1/2) without issues. I’m assuming (like other platforms) that you can just install the full 6.5.5 version over the existing one. We would probably use the incremental for the new server but the old server is a good # of revs back (incrementals would be too many).
Subject: RE: 6.5.5
You are fine installing the new version over the older one. The part number for Domino 6.5.5 for i5/OS is C888TNA. You’ll want to install the latest CUM-E and DB2 PTF’s even if they aren’t recommended.
I have not used an incremental installer on my iSeries since early in the R5 codestream because it tended to fail more than it worked. I still don’t trust them, but I’m extremely risk-averse with something as critical to us as Domino. It could very well work without incident now.

I downloaded 6.5.5 last week from IBM Passport

100% success… upgrading over 6.5.4 FP2 for i5/OS (V5R3). If using the web download, you should use the FTP method (or iSeries navigator to drag/transfer…) and restore license option then upddomsvr command. The server does not have to be down during the FTP/restore license part but does for the upddomsvr. The server was down for a couple minutes maximum. You will need to access the work console to accept the directory upgrade. Overall… a smooth upgrade process.
