When I attach a file it sometimes does not show the file association icon. I created a directory called “C:\some long directory name 1” and put an excel file in it called “TEST SCORE TEMPLATE.xls”. When I attach to a new memo I have no problem, however when I create another directory off this called “C:\some long directory name 1\some long directory name 2” and put the file in it and try to attach I get the bug. I see other posts related to a problem with color depth, but I have tested this and it is not the issue. Is this a known problem and is there an easy fix/patch?

Yes – stop using really long directory names. The icon will fail if the path length is greater than 128 characters (if memory serves).

About half that. Path + Filename < 70 characters is a better estimate. Do you know if it is fixed in later versions or if a patch exists?

Hi Paul,
I opened a PMR on that at IBM and the answer was that it will be fixed in 6.5.5
6.5.5 is available but I haven’t tested if it’s true

Thanks much!

This was fixed in 6.5.5, as I did not have the problem, however after upgrading to 6.5.6 I now have this issue, so it appears the problem has returned.

The icon problem has returned with v6.5.6, even after being fixed in 6.5.5. It is kind of frustrating.
I’ve been looking for a small fix from Lotus, but no luck.
