6.5.1 Web Configuration Problem

Okay, prob a “newbie” issue here (okay, new to 6.X that is). I have configured a 6.5.1 server, and have it running http fine (if I hit the IP of the box, it comes up with the default Lotus Domino nothing configured page - the black screen with the help links…).

The problem is that I have configured an “Internet Site” under the Server - Configuration - Web area of the directory, have restarted my machine, have placed an index.htm file in the appropriately configued HTML directory, etc. It still comes up with the default page… I reviewed against the “how to setup a website” instructions in the Admin Help db…

I would think that if I had the directory for HTML defined wrong I would get an “unable to find page” error…

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

Subject: First off have you configured your server to use Site docs?

Server Document

Basics

Server name:

Server title:

Domino 6 Server

Domain name:

Fully qualified Internet host name:

Cluster name:

Load Internet configurations from Server\Internet Sites documents:

Enabled

Second what is on the second tab of your internet site document? index.html?

Default Mapping Rules

Home URL:

index.html

Subject: Bingo! Basics tab “Load internet config from…” was it!

I had rememberd that there was an entry in the server doc for this but I could not find it…

I never looked on the “Basics” tab, I though it would be on one of the “Internet Protocols” sub tabs such as “HTTP” or “Domino Web Engine”(silly me)

Secondly I erroneously assumed (since it was a new install) that it would default to using the newer R6 config docs, not the older ones… I guess that it is set to older stuff since most installs are upgrades…

Thanks again!

Subject: 6.5.1 Web Configuration Problem

I would try removing the default home URL from the Internet Site Configuration page, also the default it looks for is default.html, which is still in the Server Configuration document under Internet settings and HTTP tab. It says R5 settings but I believe for HTML files R6 uses this as well. You should be able to change default.html to index.html.
