6.0.1 CF2 Upgrade --- PROBLEMS?

Hi all, i just sended this mail to Lotus Support, maybe someone in the Forum has any idea.

I will shortly explain again what the problems are with Windows 2000.

After upgrading from 6.0.1 CF1 to CF2, by using the smart update function we are

experiencing problems in Windows 2000.

  • Of the 100 + pc’s, this effected 3 pc’s right after upgrade

  • 1 Windows 2000 UK, in Dutch office

  • 2 Windows 2000 German, in German office

  • Windows 2000 UK user cannot access the “program files” directory using Windows Explorer

but can access it from Lotus, or from Word etc.

Windows 2000 German user cannot access “programme” directory using Windows Explorer

but can access it from Lotus, or from Word etc.

In the Windows 2000 German there is also a “program files” directory, this is not the default

Windows installation directory, but it is used by some programs that want to install themselves

into “program files”, this “program files” you can access.

So it looks like you cannot access the default Windows 2000 installation directory by using Windows

Explorer, it does open a window, and shows how many files there are, but then it hangs.

  • Internet Explorer ( version 6 ) does not use it’s proxy settings anymore, you cannot access the “internet options”,

“connections” settings, it hangs up IE.

This is both on German and UK Windows 2000

  • The problems are independent from the user, when i logon as local admin, i have the same problems.

  • You can access the registry ( in there you can check if the proxysettings are ok, and they are ok

Regards

Alex

It sounds like some OS policies have been put in place.

have you verified that new OS polcies have been pushed out to users?

Subject: RE: 6.0.1 CF2 Upgrade — PROBLEMS ???

We dont have policies that would block access to “program files” and such. Also we do not have set policies on pc’s, only

on users.

When i logon as local admin on those pc’s i have the same problems.

Curious… Are you using Microsoft’s Active Directory? Do those PC’s have all the latest Windows updates? Could it be a virus/trojan?

Ok, no noews from lotus helpdesk.Have spend days with these pc’s now, and think

it has something to do with the windows installer, this is beeing updated when you install lotus.
