550 Rule imposed. Sender using invalid hostname in greeting as per RFC specification

Hi,

One of our users is unable to send external email. This isn’t happening to others in her office or in other sites.

The error message is as follows.

550 Rule imposed. Sender using invalid hostname in greeting as per RFC specification.

I have searcherd google and the forum for something. It almost seems like notes isn’t able to find the hostname or something.

I pinged the hostname as well as mail.hostname and both replied. I couldn’t quite think of what else it could be.

One of our guys deleted the data folder then “re-installed” the users profile. It seems to work now and so must have been a corrupted profile.

It turns out that in the Address Book the users email address didn’t have .com at the end. Once that was changed back the user appears to be able to send external email.
