5.5 GB Replica database

Hi All ,

One of our user moving out of the country want to carry his 5.5 GB replica copy . Is there any software or utility available thrugh which we can split the file in small size so that we can burn it on CD . After that we can merge the files in one file and user can use it again ??

Tell me some way out soon very urgent…

You could create mail archives - see help for help, alternatively, there are backup tools that will split files e.g. WinZip Pro.

Good luck

Hi Roland ,

Thanks for the response , well if we create archieve files

then user will not able to use his copy of database as the replica .

I try with winzip pro , tell me one thing if we able to split the files throuhg winzip pro , wheather it will allows us to merge the file as welll or not ?? if not then user cant use replica option.

If any other way out then let me know

Good Day:

When I’m in the same situation, i’m using FileSplit. You can specify the size of the parts and you can create “Self-merging Files”.

Have a nice day,

how about using an 8GB thumb drive instead of burning to CD?

Subject: RE: 5.5 GB Replica database

Yep that would have been my answer too, they’re easy to purchase nowadays and fairly cheap.

Of course for anyone else reading this please remember to format the USB Flash Drive to NTFS before attempting to copy a file over 4GB !
