3D in html mails

When we receive html mails from our applications ( php and rpg programs from our i5 ) after every = Lotus Notes adds 3D.

This is very annoying, because for example :

becomes

</=

TD>

So in the mail only the first 3 characters are shown because Lotus Notes reads size=3D4 instead of size=4

Does anyone have a solution for this ?

Hi,

Not sure what the problem is to be honest, but just in case it helps to troubleshoot, %3D is the URL-encoded version of the “=” character. Are you creating the mail by posting to a URL?

Cheers,

Andrew

No, the mails are sent with a mailtool created on our i5.

The same mail sent to an external address looks fine, it seems it’s the Notes client wich messes things up.

The content is encoded in a format called “quoted-printable”, which is a very standard encoding that the Notes client handles just fine. The chances are that the creating program in this case is not setting the headers correctly to make it clear that it is quoted-printable. In this case, some browser based mail and some mail clients will recognize (i.e. “guess”) that it is quoted-printable, while others will not. The program generating the e-mail needs to generate a valid header.
