I need to have 2x embedded html views in a document simultaneously so I am using the old iframe trick of
and then in the onLoad event:
document.getElementById(‘viewDiv’).innerHTML = window.frames[‘viewTitleFrame’].document.getElementById(‘changenotehtml’).innerHTML
This seems to work fine for documents in read mode but I need this to work in a dialog box (ie inside a form) and I have tried everything to access the equivalent DOM object to get at the innerHTML - if I use the above I get “document.frames has no properties”. I have tried all combinationns of frames, forms[0] etc but can’t get to the iframe document.
Thanks for any help.

Try by making Iframe visible. if you can see view in iframe then you can check for HTML of main page in which Iframe is put and then check for HTML of view to find out how it is rendered.

Thanks for the response Sameer - the problem is that I have already unhidden the iframe (and yes - it does display OK) - and I have then even looked at DOMExplorer in Firefox - I can see the iframe and the contents but can’t work out how to “drill down” the DOM structure in js to get it.

Hi
Can you give me more information like what browser you’re using ? What do you mean by dialogbox in a form ? is it a browser window or a modalDialog ? Also have you tried document.frames instead of window.frames ?

I don’t believe it!! It was document.frames - I must’ve tried EVERYTHING else! Really appreciate that - no, REALLY!
