2nd post - different behaviour of Text fields in R65 vs R7

I’m desperate for some help.

I have an app that’s supposed to work across R65x and R7. One thing that’s not working is a simple Text field that holds some default text strings. The scenario to generate the error is :

edit the field Default value in R7 Designer, and save the form. Everything OK

edit the same field in R654 Designer. Contents look OK (and the app works !). BUT … if I save the form in R654 Designer, all the contents of the field is concatenated - now the app doesn’t work.

Example

in R7, default value of Text field is "Line 1 has these words. And some more …( and so on)

Line 3, following a blank line, has these words. And some more … ( and so on and on)."

After saving in R654, the field content looks like this …

“Line 1 has these words. And some more …( and so on)Line 3, following a blank line, has these words. And some more … ( and so on and on).”

Rampisad,

I can see that this is frustrating, but I think you’re in dangerous waters anyway with that approach. Why not use @NewLine or @Char(13) to make your blank lines?

Thanks for the response. Frustrating is putting it mildly.

Not wishing to bore you with my reasons, but I use the contents of the field in LotusScript routines, not for display. Breaking the text up into lines makes a lot more work for the people mainting the literal (and it’s just a simple block of text) and makes much more work for the programmer who has to then read this in.

Question is, why? Is this a bug? Do I fail to understand something?
