I posted some time ago an article where I was explaining some strange problems happening whith Notes 6.03 and 6.5 clients on Windows terminal servers.
Original post can be found here. → http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/nd6forum.nsf/DateAllThreadedWeb/259C586806B46B3385256E4D004D054F?opendocument
So far none replied. Should I assume that I am the only unlucky guy on earth with these problems?
Can anyone at Iris give me an idea on what this kind of issues may be related to ?
Im also investigating on Microsoft side, and of course they are telling me that with Outlook this is not happening …
Should I follow their advice and move my customers back to Outlook, or may I hope to find some support to at least understand a bit more on what is going on?
TIA

Subject: 2ND POST: Am I the only one facing problems with Notes 6 and Windows Terminal Server?
Marco, From the sound of it, fixup and updall do nothing, accessing the db from a different user shows no problem, so it must be on the “client” side. I’ve seen similar client issues that did not terminal services, with the problem being the cache.ndk and desktop6.ndk files(sometimes bookmark.nsf as well, but deleting this removes the workspace icons). Next time it occurs, you could try deleting these files just to see if they are the cause?:-jmw

Thanks John for you reply.
I already tried to delete cache.ndk, but nothing changed.
To be honest I did not try to delete also desktop6.ndk. I will try next time and I will let you know.
Thanks again

We had a similar problem with 1 user having strange things in their mail file but others could look at it fine. We deleted the desktop6.dsk, bookmark.nsf, and cache.dsk from their data directory on the file server because they appeared to be corrupted per notes tech support. Once the user logged back in which recreated the files the mail problem went away
Subject: Install Clients from Control Panel
Marco,
We faced the same problem installing Notes/Designer/Administrator 6.5 and Domino 6.5 on the same box, a Windows Server 2003. We contacted IBM and the solution seemed crazy, but it worked. Don’t install the clients using the CD’s own install program that launches automatically when you insert the CD in the drive. Instead, install the software via Control Panel → Add or Remove Programs. Uninstall it first from here, and then reinstall it from here.

Ken
don’t worry if your solution seems crazy … at this stage I would easily consider to climb Mount Everest wearing my shorts if it helps …
Actually I was planning a re-installation, because the first time I tried to install the italian version of clients but I got the english version instead.
I will push to anticipate the re-installation, and I will let you know.
Thanks a lot
Marco

THIS solution is not crazy, its the only correct one. It seems no one in your company knows how to operate a TERMINAL server. On a multi user system, you MUST always use the add / remove function or it will not correctly install.
