2 email groups resolve to similar named individuals

Since upgrading to Notes 8.5.1, two of our email groups have been resolving lookups and sending mail to similarly named single user addresses.

Example:

Both groups are “multi-purpose” with an internet address listed in that field.

Group1 has a listed Group name as “Group1” with an InternetAddress of Group1@domain.com. Group1 has 50 users. There is also a single user listed in the people view of the domino directory called “Group1 StudentServices” that has it’s own mailbox and internet address as “Group1.StudentServices@domain.com

At first I though this was related to the new recent contacts when addressing a new message, but it appears not. I’ve removed recent contact entries, set my lookups to stop after first match…also exhaustively check all address books… but nothing seems to help. When you open a new message and type in the group name “Group1”, pressing F9 resolves the name and inputs the single user “Group1.StudentServices@doamin.com” in the To: field. Since this is happening to most all 50 people in that group who were used to just typing in “Group1” and pressing send, I didn’t think it was user specific and more directory related.

I have tried to rename the group, then create a new group of the same name, with the same attributes, but the lookups keep resolving to the single user and not sending to the Notes group.

This is happening to 2 of our groups and to majority of the users in those groups who try it as they did prior(which I think is not related) when they address a new message. I’ve tried running Updall -R (which probably isn’t the right thing to use) on the domino directory after renaming and creating a new group… but it still resolves the group name to the individual.

Sometimes if you just send to “Group1”, it does go through to that group. Other times, what you though was going to that group, goes to the similarly named single user’s inbox.

Any suggestions?

I’ve also noticed that the new “recent contacts” dialog shows the group name “Group1” when you choose Search Directory, but the floating dialog box that shows off to the right of the entry shows the single user’s information and email. I’m assuming this is why it’s getting sent there?I did turn on “exhaustively check all address books” setting and can get the Ambigious name dialog to pop up, from which I can select the group I’m intending on sending the message to… but is this a workaround that everyone will have to do? It seems that the lookup is confused and will keep reverting to the first match it finds which is the User’s listed in the person view… and ignores the group name in the group view.
