1st Server Install

I’ve been testing a new domain server install using R6.0.1. I’ve found I am not provided choices for type of certifiers. The default in North American.

I’ve also found I’m provided no choice of what to name the ID files, other than the admin ID, or where those ID files are to be located.

These need to be changed. This second part not a big deal, but the first part, default to North American, does. Basically, if I have to have an International Domain, I have to create, once the domain is up, new certificates and new IDs. This is very bothersome.

Subject: I had no such problems

I setup a first server with Domino 6.0.1 last week. During the setup I got the option of how which security type my certifier would be (nowadays it doesn’t matter anymore btw) and I could choose a location where I wanted to save my admin ID…I’ve installed on windows 2000.

Subject: See technote #1096278

Excerpt from the technote:

From release 5.0.4 and higher, there is actually no difference between these two security types. If your organization’s clients and servers are all running release 5.0.4 (or later), it makes no difference whether you create North American or International IDs. Both types of IDs will work the same way.

Laws were relaxed last year and since the release of R5.0.4, the level of encryption is exactly the same for both International and North American security. If, however, your Notes Domain is a mixed release environment and you still have servers prior to 5.0.4 with International IDs, then the distinction between the two codes still exists, and you will have to ensure that all new IDs which are created on the R5.0.4 (and higher) administration client are set to international. Otherwise, you will encounter problems.

Thank you both for your response. The technote was very helpful. I called Lotus and let them know of my other issues and they put in SPRs.
