1 of my users is getting a stange message

When 1 of my users sends and saves an email he is getting this message:

“Adding entry will cause text list to exceed 64K. Entry not added.”

However the email is saved.

Any idea what this means?

TIA Frank

Subject: 1 of my users is getting a stange message.

Hi Frank,

I had the same error message with an email addressed to a group that contained multiple levels of nested groups, with the result that the sending of the email was aborted.

I searched for a reference to the error and traced my way through to the following 2 support documents.

Limits on Nesting Groups in R5

http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=0&uid=swg21096484

Limits on Nesting Groups in Domino 6

http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=0&uid=swg21091250

On their own these support docs did not refer to the error, however the 2nd support doc referred to Nested groups and a solution for Notes 6 clients. There is no longer a restriction on addressing nested groups in Domino 6, however the restriction still exists in Notes 6.

As you can see from second support doc, adding the @maildomain on the end of the group name forces the Domino server to perform the group expansion.

This resolved the issue one of my users was experiencing here with the 64k error.

Good Luck,

david…

A similar problem was reported to me today. The message is displayed as soon as the user creates the E-mail, before it’s addressed, so I don’t think it’s related to addressing to a group that’s too large.

The user in question does have more than 1,200 documents in his Inbox (I’m not in a position to enforce any limits); I wonder if this could somehow be related?

I have over 11,000 messages in my Inbox (don’t ask) on 6.5.3 and don’t see any problems.
